PUBLICATION DESIGN

Magazine Publications

I've had the opportunity to design editorial spreads for both Baked Magazine and University Girl Magazine, creating layouts for their semiannual publications. Each assignment began with a collection of photography, illustrations, and editorial copy, with the challenge of transforming those assets into cohesive, engaging spreads that balanced typography, imagery, and storytelling.

Every layout was approached individually, allowing the content to guide the visual direction while maintaining strong hierarchy, readability, and editorial rhythm.

University Girl Magazine

This feature article centered on an interview with TikTok creator Carly Weinstein as she discussed food guilt and body image. My goal was to create a layout that allowed the photography and editorial content to seamlessly work together, using typography and composition to support the story rather than compete with it.

Early explorations began in cooler tones. Through rounds of refinement, the final direction shifted to pink, creating a softer, more approachable aesthetic that better aligned with both the magazine's visual identity and the tone of the article.

Baked Magazine

As a member of the design team at Baked Magazine from 2021–2023, I designed editorial spreads for the magazine's semiannual publications. Each issue featured a wide range of content—from feature stories on local restaurants to informational articles and recipe pages—requiring every layout to reflect the unique tone of its subject matter. The publication embraces bold color, expressive typography, and playful layouts, giving each spread its own visual identity while maintaining a cohesive editorial voice.
